Timber Roots...a history begins

Timber Roots history.
Timber Roots history.

Timber Roots' history began quite some time before the creation of Timber Roots came to fruition. Stemming as far back as 1855, Timber Roots has made its mark on the lumber industry.

The Timber Roots' name is derived from the title of a book written about the early beginnings of the company's founders. The "MTD" portion of their name stands for the three entities of Timber Roots...Millwork, Truss and Distribution.

The first official millwork facility began in the late 1990's in Rochester, MN and has since grown to include facilities in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Timber Roots' first truss plant was opened in Mitchell, SD and has grown to a list of plants located in  Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Utah, and Wisconsin.

Our first distribution center began in 1980 in Winona, MN and since then has come to include distribution sites in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

RIGHT INSET: A record load of logs harvested in the winter of 1892. In the spring, the logs were then rafted down the Mississippi River to the Laird-Nortion Sawmill (upper right) in Winona, MN, where they were milled, dried and shipped by rail to their lumber yards throughout the region. The Laird-Norton Sawmill provided much of the lumber needed as settlers and railroads moved west.

LOWER RIGHT: Today, Timber Roots state-of-the-art truss and component manufacturing facility located in DePere, WI, provides roof and floor truss systems as well as panelization for custom homes and commercial applications through their trade area.
